The Graph Releases Solution To Usher Subgraphs On Hosted Service To Decentralised Service

Edge and Node, the team that created The Graph, an indexing protocol that organizes blockchain data and makes it accessible, has created a solution that makes it easy for subgraphs on hosted service to migrate to a decentralised The Graph network, heralding what could be described as the network’s sunrise of decentralised data.

The Co-founder and CEO of Edge and Node Tegan Kline revealed that the solution which is upgrade indexer empowers every hosted service users to seamlessly upgrade to The Graph Network in at once over coming months.

The benefits of the solution to everyone, according to Kline, are lower query costs; ultra-reliable uptime; faster syncing speed; transparent stats on the usage of subgraphs.

“Today, the decentralized network delivers performance, redundancy & fast syncing speeds simply unmatched on hosted or SaaS alternatives. These advantages enable us to double down on our promise to empower web3 builders,” Kline stated.

More than forty blockchains including Arweave are supported by the hosted service. They will be brought to The Graph’s decentralised network through the upgrade indexer.

At the outset of the development of The Graph, the project had a centralised service which involved free hosted service, although it said that eventually, creators of subgraphs which are APIs that query blockchains for data and sort it in particular ways, will have to migrate their subgraphs to the decentralised network.

The Graph announced that it would be shutting down the hosted service in June and outlined steps to a gradual shut down including ending new subgraphs deployment to the hosted service; stop all upgrades from hosted service accounts; fully phase out hosted service subgraphs.

“...not only will every subgraph on the hosted service today be upgradeable to the network -- they'll also be virtually immediately queryable on the network after upgrading, along with enabling any other Indexer to sync and serve those same subgraphs,” Kline said.

The upgraded indexer is democratized, making it possible for anyone to permissionlessly become an upgrade indexer and earn GRT query fees on subgraphs previously limited to the hosted service environment.

The Graph’s service is usually by many developers and creators of applications that require Web3 or blockchain data. The Graph which initially supported only the indexing of transactions on Arweave now supports indexing of files according to an announcement made during the just concluded Arweave in Asia. The upgrade indexer is already getting reactions from users many of whom welcome the product.
