Sarcophagus DAO March 2023 Update - Testnet Progress, Governance Votes, and More

The team over at Sarcophagus DAO witnessed a month of growth and development throughout March 2023. With a now (quite) active testnet, the addition of new team members, important DAO governance votes, and a community call with long time backers Inflection, the Sarcophagus team has been working tirelessly to move closer to the mainnet launch, planned for early H2.

Let's dive in and see what's been happening!

New Team Members

Sarcophagus welcomed five new members in March, including three Mods (going by their Discord names) @Achiever, @kral, and @socrates, and two Ambassadors, @Megumii and @karl.martin. They have been actively contributing to the community, assisting users, and providing quality content and research, so the DAO/team has onboarded them!

DAO Governance Votes

Two critical governance votes took place in March, related to the Payroll and Growth subDAOs. First up, vote #33 approved the funding of 120,000 USDC to the Payroll subDAO for another quarter. And secondly, vote #34 allocated 150,000 SARCO for the Growth subDAO to continue operations in the upcoming quarter. Both votes passed and were executed on March 18th.

Sarcophagus Testnet Update

The Sarcophagus dApp testing phase is live and has already been heavily utilised, with over 6,750 Sarcophagi created on the Goerli Tomb dApp. The Graph Protocol integration is underway to enhance efficiency and reduce user wait times. A retroactive incentive plan for testers was announced, with two tiers based on involvement. The incentive plan and testing in general have been extended and will continue until April 20th.

Community Call with Inflection

Sarcophagus held a call with Inflection, a long-term investor and supporter of the DAO, to discuss recent testing, the approximate mainnet launch timeline, front-end updates, node operations, and future integrations with other dApps and tools. Key points from the call include:

  1. The impressive volume of testing that has helped identify areas for improvement, increasing scalability and ease of use for the mainnet Tomb dApp.

  2. The approximate mainnet launch timeline that is set for early H2, allowing sufficient time for bug fixes, User Experience (UX) enhancements, integrations, and optimal market timing.

  3. Front-end updates will be the last to be pushed, as they may be impacted by changes made during testing and don't require contract modifications.

  4. Node operators have the flexibility to choose their operational style, ranging from minimising fees and anonymising identity to implementing marketing strategies with premium fees for service.

  5. Sarcophagus aims to build integrations with other dApps and tools, as the protocol is designed to serve as a base-layer tool for builders.

Mainnet Launch

With the testnet making significant progress, the Tomb dApp's mainnet launch is anticipated for early H2. Post-launch, a priority will be set at expanding contracts to more EVM chains/L2s and other compatible smart-contract chains, maximising the protocol's usability and flexibility for different use cases.

Managing a Node

Following last month's successful Archaeologist node upgrade, efforts to upgrade nodes for the dApp's testnet continue. On March 16th, an improvement using block time as a universal sync for all nodes/users was implemented, resolving discrepancies that caused failed signatures, connections, and unwraps. Sarcophagus encourages individuals to launch nodes, as more operational nodes ensure a more efficient and reliable dApp.

Partnerships and Integrations

As the mainnet launch approaches, the Sarcophagus team is actively seeking partnerships with other blockchain projects interested in utilising the Sarcophagus protocol to enhance their products. Discussions have been held with various groups across the crypto industry, such as wallet companies, node software distributors, and dApp store integrations. Sarcophagus DAO mentioned that individuals associated with a project that could benefit from a dead man's switch or know of one can reach out to the team for further discussions.

Expanding the team and community

As Sarcophagus DAO expands, it is looking for individuals to contribute in various ways. If you have relevant skills or experience, reach out to anyone in the official Sarcophagus DAO Discord server marked with an Ambassador role for assistance. The project is particularly interested in members from international communities to help support the growing influx of new users.

Another huge month for Sarcophagus DAO as it gets closer to achieving its goals of launching an on-chain Dead Man’s Switch… and a cross/multi-chain one at that.
