Molecular Execution Machine or MEM, an infrastructure protocol owned by Decent Land Labs has launched a testnet platform that has a semblance of a production environment and does not require getting whitelisted, the solution was developed as a result of popular requests by users, the project said.

Decent Land Labs said that MEM Carbon Testnet was built to provide developers with a flexible environment to test and deploy MEM functions. It said the solution was live and ready to run either as self-hosted or with a public MEM endpoint.

The name Carbon was inspired by the sciences where it is believed to be vital to life processes.

“…carbon is unique among the elements in the vast number and variety of compounds it can form. There are close to ten million known carbon compounds, many thousands of which are vital to organic and life processes,” Decent Land Labs stated.

MEM Carbon testnet comes packed with features such as dedicated testnet endpoint and open access which eliminates the whitelisting barrier and opens the tool for anyone to use it. This makes Carbon Testnet permissionless.

The testnet requires little computing power to run which means that developers have the option to use testnet in private mode by hosting their testnet locally. The testnet also allows temporary storage for testnet data. MEM, however, warned that the memory resets every two days and advised that data that users wish to retain should be saved.

Molecular Execution Machine is a developer platform that helps to build, test and deploy serverless functions that leverage blockchain technology. Currently in Beta, developers can ship dApps in Javascript, Zig, Python etc. It is built on a stack of molecule.sh, Arweave, and 3EM. The application is already being used in Arweave Name Service, Permacast and Ark Protocol. It could be used in NoSQL databases, content publishing platforms, microservice architecture and serverless API gateways.
