Solana dApp Store uses Arweave

The Solana dApp Store is a revolutionary new app store that is specifically designed for Solana Mobile Saga devices. It is the first Web3 app store of its kind and offers a number of unique features that set it apart from legacy app stores.

Some of its features include:

  • No 30% fees for developers
  • Crypto-friendly policies
  • App metadata accessible on-chain, and best of all…
  • It is censorship-resistant, as it uses Arweave!

Let’s dive in!

Solana dApp Store

One of the key advantages of the Solana dApp Store is that it does not charge developers any fees. This is likely in response to the current fees in the range of 30% that tech companies charge in their stores.

  • Apple App Store – Commission of 30% on all in-app purchases and subscriptions.
  • Google Play Store – Commission of 30% for the first $1 million in an app’s revenue, 15% thereafter.
  • Microsoft Store – Commission of 30%.
  • Amazon Appstore – Commission of 30%.

Payments for dApps will be directly between a customer and the dApp developer, without any middlemen interfering. No fees means that developers can keep more of the revenue they earn from their apps, which will help to encourage innovation and growth in the Web3 space.

Additionally, the Solana dApp Store has crypto-friendly policies that make it easier for developers to create and distribute their apps. Navigating the ever-changing policy tempest of legacy app stores can be a nightmare for Web3 companies, even the ones building on Arweave. Check out ArDrive’s recent story about how they were denied a smooth launch for their mobile app on the Apple App Store.

Another major advantage of the Solana dApp Store is that it is censorship-resistant.

The dApp APKs (the packaged code for every app) on the store are stored on the decentralized and permanent Arweave blockchain, meaning that they cannot be censored by any authority. As a result, users will have access to a wide variety of apps that would not be available in traditional app stores.

The Solana dApp Store is also composable.

All of an app’s metadata is accessible through an on-chain NFT. That makes it easy for users to verify where apps come from, and also means that anyone could build their own dApp store. Public access will stimulate and promote competition and innovation in the Web3 space.

The Solana dApp Store will be available exclusively on Saga at launch and will be pre-installed on every phone.

The Solana dApp Store will most likely bring on a new era for Web3 developers.
